The month of Adar offers us the joy of the holiday of Purim, with its costumes, noise making, and even, perhaps a wee tipple! It also offers us a deep exploration of a moment when the Jewish people are saved by the actions of men and women who make choices both in the frailty, and the strength, of their humanity…and their Godliness. Let’s look at two women, Vashti and Esther, as spiritual elders and psychological archetypes who offer us insights into the choices we make in contemporary life today. And we will have a few words for the men in the story, too. (Costumes and noisemakers, optional!)
