We will continue our study of the Sabbath in Zoharic Kabbalah, a topic dear to my heart. Shabbat the day of Joy, Rest, and Deep Transformation. We will focus on rituals of entering Shabbat. How, we will ask, does one prepare to enter Holy Ground/Sacred Time? What does one let go of, bracket, and bring in as one enters? What are the rituals that effect the deep Transformation of embodied Consciousness? What does this transformed world look like? And what lessons from Shabbat consciousness might one bring into the weekly realm?
As was the case in January, this session’s reading is from chapter three of my book, Sabbath in the Classical Kabbalah. While you are invited to read the whole chapter, key pages for us are 217-218, 224-232 and 242-243. If you wish to go over prior reading, see also from my Sabbath in the Classical Kabbalah. You are invited to skim the beginning pages of the chapter, and then to focus on pp. 78-101 and 120-137.
Our session will be a blend of presentation, deep sharing, text study, and spiritual practice. For the music lovers among us, we will experience one Zoharic texts, the Mystery of Shabbat (Raza de-shabbat) which has entered the liturgy, and which has been the subject of stirring chanting and hazzanut. Hope to see all who wish to be there!
Blessings to all and here’s a sweet and restful Shabbat!
