We will conclude our study of the Rav Metivta section of the Zohar, a kind of mystical “magical realist” exploration of the heavenly Academy/Garden/Orchard, replete with shapeshifting spiritual guides, and techniques of sensory transformation.
For those who haven’t been with us over the last few sessions, but wish to join, contact Reb Elliot for the text and related readings.
New for this session: A brief passage from Rav Metivta was turned into an Aramaic Rap Video by voice artist Victoria Hanna and friends and into a devotional song by Israeli artist Eviatar Banai. You’re invited (but not required) to check these out before our session.
If you wish to read ahead in Melila Hellner-Eshed’s book on the Zohar, you can dive into chapter 13, “General Characteristics of Zoharic Mystical Experience.” It’s not too long and makes for great Shabbos reading.
“To one and all, I hope you are healthy and well, imbued with resolve and hope for a more just world. So much unfolding now in so many realms. May some of the healing light of this spring illumine your days and energize the work of your—of our—hands. Tzedek tzedek tirdof. Shabbat shalom” — Reb Elliot
